Joe McGann's top five.....meat cuts
JOE McGann is the eldest of the Liverpool born band of famous acting brothers. He appeared as one of Harry Enfield's scousers and became a household name starring alongside Honor Blackman in the TV sitcom The Upper Hand. He also reached the semi final of Celebrity Master Chef a while back.

He is therefore no stranger to cooking.

Currently he is starring with Marco Pierre White's steak and chips queen, Jennifer Ellison, and a bunch of scantily clad ladies in a theatre tour of Calendar Girls.

He is therefore no stranger to a piece of rump. 1: The sirloin steak...
Aged at least 28 days- superior in taste to the more expensive fillet A good sirloin needs no sauce- English mustard on the side, a baked floury spud( king Eddy) and a heap of chopped organic seasonal salad ...that was my lunch yesterday!

Never cook it more than medium rare. Just take it's horns off and wipe it's arse.

2: Leg of lamb...
. I like it pink in the middle and crispy, and garlic/rosemary studded on the outside. It's the classic Sunday roast.

3: Neck fillet of lamb...
Versatile, quick to cook and much underused cut..Just frighten it in a hot pan and then roast it for twenty mins. Slice thickly- great in a butty with chilli jam.

4: Minced beef/ lamb mixed...
The perfect base for your spag bol.

5: Scrag end of lamb or mutton....
You can't make scouse without one. Keep cooking till it dissolves and THEN you've got your basis for the sacred stew....

*Joe McGann stars as John in Calendar Girls at the Liverpool Empire from from September 27 to October 2.

That's all very well but some of us haven't got time to go chasing cows with a felt tip. They must get suspicious, when they notice bits missing. Eh up Daisy, here's that bloke off the telly with his magic marker. Yes it bleedin' well is magic, it made me leg disappear.

And surely Mr McClan would be wanting some veg with his meatfest. So when he opens a tin of peas is it the Garden variety or BIGGA Marrowfat?

And you got his latest role wrong, Collander Girls indeed! Joe McGann is currently starring at The Everyman,in Willy Rissoles' Educating Meateater.

Well that's good!
all over the place making me look a pillock!

So do these new rants columns not require the services of a paragraph fairy? Has that post been lost with the Condem cuts?

Paragraph FairySeptember 26th 2010.

Yes Prof, it appears HTML messing about is no longer part of my job description. In fact apparently you can cut and paste whole swathes of text into the rants. It's a labour saving device, like a dishwasher, or adoption.

Oh sorry Professor, I thought you were shivering.

Does this mean we can have bold and italics again?

Oh. Apparently not.

And what about these that turn punctuation into gibberish?

For example the inverted comma becomes ԉ۪´!

What the heck is that supposed to be?
