Beatles from Manchester shocker
It could all have been so different.....
NEWS that the Beatles are now to be found on iTunes flashed excitedly around the world this week.
Indeed, such was the rush to bring the announcement, that Fox News rewrote history by describing the group as "Manchester's favorite Mopheads", not once, but in in two separate pieces.
Easily done. The four lads who shook the Worsley did, after all, start the famous Merseybeat. Which, in turn, was named after the mighty river in Stockport.
Their famous “rattle your jewellery” appearance at the Royal Command Performance was hosted by Bernard Manning.
And who can forget the Man City fans singing "Money, that's what I want!". The irony of that today is lost on no one.
Still let's not forget the criticism Manchester now gets for being over reliant on The Beatles for its tourism.

There was me thinking it was April the 1st when of course I realised that Oasis took their name from the first club in Manchester The Beatles played The Oasis Club, so there is a connection to build a whole industry on.

I'm not sure this wasn't done on purpose. Murdoch famously hates Liverpool and his staff will know this. Using the term mopheads is derogatory and yet to allude to moptops shows they must know at least that much and the Mankjester thing is red rag material. When it was edited they changed Manchester's to England's, as if they couldn't bring themselves to use the word Liverpool.
