ALLERTON Road can hold its head up proud once more.
Spire, at the edge on Church Road, has been named as the regional winner for the North West in the prestigious The Good Food Guide Restaurant of the Year Awards.
Over 27,500 diners nominated their favourite restaurants, pubs and cafés from around the UK, and The Good Food Guide Award judges have whittled the nominations down to name some of the best dining experiences the country has to offer.
To qualify for the awards restaurants needed to be independently-run, offering regional or local produce where possible and deliver consistently great food and excellent service. Spire fought off stiff competition from other restaurants in the North West to win the award.
Spire Chef Owner Matt Locke, who previously worked at the London Carriage Works, says he is thrilled to be named as the winner: "Hearing the news that we had won was an extremely proud moment - to be singled out by your customers in this way is a very special feeling and one we will cherish."
He runs the restaurant with his brother Adam (both pictured above with TV chef James Martin, centre).
Elizabeth Carter, Consultant Editor of The Good Food Guide said: “With warm vibes, competitive prices and cooking that is sheer unfussy, up-to-date class, it is no wonder that Spire is currently a top performer among The Good Food Guide readers in the North-West.”
Spire is one of ten regional winners from around the UK, one of whom will go on to be named as the overall The Good Food Guide Restaurant of the Year. The winner of this esteemed award will be announced on 23rd June 2011.
