Susan Boyle is coming

NEVER mind Rihanna or Paul McCartney doing a Christmas gig, there's plenty more to look forward to with the news that Susan Boyle is on her way.

Subo, as space-strapped headline writers like to abbreviate her, will be joining the cast of I Dreamed a Dream, the musical based on her life story, which is set to visit the Liverpool Empire in April 2012 for one week only.

Susan’s appearance in the musical, which comes only in the finale, will be the first opportunity for people to watch this global singing sensation away from YouTube. It's her first whirl in the UK on stage since the Britain's Got Talent tour in 2009.

The rest of the show she will be played by Elaine C Smith, star of the hit West End stage play Calendar Girls, and who is best known for her portrayal of Mary Doll in Rab C Nesbitt on BBC Television.

Boyle says; “I am thrilled to be a part of the musical about my life story and very much looking forward to stepping on stage and performing with the cast. It is an honest portrayal of my life and has been a cathartic process to be involved in.”

Michael Harrison, the show's producer, says: "I can't wait to see the audience reaction when she walks on stage.”
