Racing, live music and sporting greats at the opening day at Aintree

Published on March 18th 2011.

Liverpool Day at the Grand National

THE Grand National is coming up at Aintree racecourse from 7-9 April. The opening day of the festival is Liverpool Day – it's got all the atmosphere of this British sporting institution and a full programme of Liverpool-inspired entertainment too.

There's top flight racing in the form of the BGC Liverpool Hurdle. Plus a performance from legendary Mersey band The Farm. They'll be playing hits including 'All Together' and 'Groovy Train' after the racing finishes.

Other bands performing as part of this year's Liverpool Day schedule include Alternative Radio, The Lady Killers, Paul Kappa, the Mersey Cats and new artists from Liverpool's Threshold Festival.

There'll also be Beatles puppets wandering through the crowds, a Red Devils air performance, and a parade by some of Liverpool's sporting greats. Liverpool Day tickets start at £21 (free for children).

If you're looking for a way to entertain clients or treat your team, book yourself a Liverpool Day hospitality package. They start at just £99 and include everything you need for a fantastic day at the races. One of the packages includes a deal for Confidential readers where you get free bottles of champagne and free bets if you book before 31 March.
