Heaven Up Here

Last chance this year for twilight tower views at Liverpool Cathedral

Published on October 24th 2011.

Heaven Up Here

IT'S getting dark now, and if you want to experience one of the high points of Liverpool you have until Thursday.

The Anglican Cathedral Tower is at the toppermost of St James's Mount, offering breathtaking views of the city and its spectacular sunsets, eyes to the west.

But nesting pairs of peregrine falcons will have it all back to themselves come nightfall after this week as October 27 sees the end of this year’s Thursday evening tower openings.

It will remain open to visitors during the day throughout the year,  but you will have to wait until Spring 2012 to experience inspiring views of the city as the sun goes down and the lights come on.

It has been another successful year for the Cathedral tower twilight openings, thanks to two new lifts allowing visitors to reach the top of the 330ft tower more quickly and comfortably.
