In pictures...Throwaway remarks

“Whether I am drawing on an old paper bag, painting on to a fruit wrapper or designing an album cover, it is that silent message that shouts from the use of found materials that really excites me. Seeing two things simultaneously to me is a form of magic- is it a tin can or a car? is it a brick or an ancient Celtic figurine? is it an oil can or an African mask? Sometimes - as in life, all you have to do is simply stand something on it's head to reveal a completely new identity.” La's founder, musician and artist Mike Badger who specialises in creating art made entirely from discarded objects, like this one, Reclaimed Liverpool.

His latest exhibition - Mike Badger's Reclaimed World – can be seen at The Vitreum, a new gallery space in Merchant Taylors School for Girls, Liverpool Road, Crosby until February 19. Head of Art Mick Gill puts on exhibitions in the space to benefit the students' artistic progress, at the same time giving oppurtunities to local artists to show/sell their work. “He is a man with vision, the school is lucky to have him,” says Mike.
